“At 55 years old, I was trying to find a career that would not be as physical as the construction industry.
After 1 ½ years of being either under or over qualified for several positions that I applied for, I was about to stop looking.
On a Monday I was reading the Sunday paper job section and saw an ad for Katlaw Driving School. I called and talked to Jennifer,
a career advisor, came to visit the school on that Wednesday and started driving school the following Monday.
On October 31st, I started school and on November 18th I graduated with a diploma, CDL Class A license and a job offer from Werner Enterprises.
I spent a year and a half looking for a job that took a career advisor and experienced instructors only 3 weeks to achieve.

“Katlaw is a Class Organization. In three weeks, I’ve learned to straight line, off set (both sides), parallel park (both sides) and alley dock.
My classroom teacher was William who made the learning a new experience fun and enjoyable however, explain the seriousness of handling an 80,000 lb weapon of mass destruction.
Helen taught the skill portion. (She was) very patient, informative and a stickler for following procedures. My overall experience was awesome. Dave and everyone kept it a pleasant experience.

“I had wonderful instructors at Katlaw; Helen, Mike & William. Many times throughout my three weeks of training at Katlaw I wanted to give up and thought I just couldn’t do it.
I previously had never even been able to drive a stick shift car and the thought of 10 gears, double clutching a semi terrified me.
The task ahead seemed unrealistic for someone who knows nothing about clutches or changing gears. At the end of the three weeks I passed my CDL exam, YEAH!
Your instructors accomplished the impossible... Teaching me how to change gears period. The all did a great job! They also encouraged me the whole process and never let me give up on myself.”

"My experience with Katlaw Driving School was a very good one. The office personell were very polite and very helpful with any problems or issues you might have.
The instructors were very patient and very knowledgeable about teaching to drive a truck. My particular instructor would see you getting frustrated or nervous and stop you and make you take a deep breath or make you step away for a moment so you could gather yourself.
If he saw you having problems and he might even tell you a joke to remove you from the problem for a second or two. All the employees at Katlaw should be proud of the job that they do there because they are making the highways safer for us truck drivers and the people around us.

The next two weeks with Helen was a blast. I am very grateful that she was my trainer. I could not have asked for a more knowledgeable or patient person.
